Nursing Pay Scales in the UK
Salaries in NHS Hospitals are based on their national pay scale and are divided into appropriate Grades. A newly qualified nurse starts on a D-Grade. A more experienced nurse, with several years post-graduate experience would be on an E-Grade. A F-grade nurse or G-grade nurse carries out a more leading or supervisory role, for example a ward sister or charge nurse.
(A, B and C grades are not listed as these grades are used for non registered nurses, students or health care assistants).
